ABOUT
JOHNNY LANGE:
Johnny Lange is a Philadelphia born Italian American songwriter
and publisher who has written hits spanning fifty years in our
American History. His music style is as fun-loving and broad as
Someones in the Kitchen with Dinah, Mule Train, and Clancy
Lowered the Boom, to the sacred and spiritual Somebody Bigger
Than You and I and I Found the Answer. His early career shuffled
in the cowboy era with the singin cowboy tunes
of the 1930s and 40s, including Blue Shadows on the
Trail and A New Range in Heaven.
By 1951, Johnny hit his stride as Mule Train, (written in collaboration
with Hy Heath and Fred Glickman), was nominated for an Academy
Award for Best Song.
Johnny was both a Hollywood celebrity and a well-respected lyricist
and composer, with countless songs hitting the Top 25
throughout his career. The best measure of his talent is the diversity
and fame of those who have recorded his music over the years;
including Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Frankie Laine,
Mahalia Jackson, Whitney Houston, Dinah Shore, The Ink Spots,
Sammy Davis Jr. and a host of others.
Today at age 96, Johnny still lives and works in Los Angeles,
never far from the Hollywood music scene and still misses his
beloved wife Helen, who died in 1994.
